Pneumonia is swelling (inflammation) of the tissue in one or both lungs. It's usually caused by a bacterial infection.
At the end of the breathing tubes in your lungs are clusters of tiny air sacs. If you have pneumonia, these tiny sacs become inflamed and fill up with fluid.

NUH is home to the East Midlands adult CF Centre.
This brand new state of the art dedicated centre was opened at Nottingham City Hospital in 2014 and was jointly funded by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) and Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Breathe Easy Support Groups
The British Lung Foundation (BLF) runs the Breathe Easy Support Groups with around 230 around the UK.
The groups allow people with lung conditions to meet other people with the same or similar conditions and get valuable advice.
Our Nottingham Respiratory Research Unit nurses regularly attend local Breathe Easy group sessions around Nottinghamshire.
