STIFLE Study Investigating Asthma inflammation in patients taking daily Asthma medication

Updated: Feb 21, 2023

The STIFLE study has now commenced here at the Nottingham Respiratory Research Unit and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The study principal investigator is Professor Tim Harrison

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS RESEARCH STUDY? Studies have shown that the use of Symbicort® as both preventer treatment (morning and evening doses) and as a reliever treatment (for relief of asthma symptoms) provides good control of asthma and reduces asthma attacks. When Symbicort® is used in this way the mechanism behind the benefit is not well understood.

This study aims to describe the mechanism of changes in inflammation, asthma symptoms, lung function tests and use of asthma medication in asthma patients.
